PREDICTION FOR “SLOWN”

I predict that Walter Mitty will be the main character in “Secret Life of Walter Mitty” by James Thurber. Based on the name, I think that this short story will be about Walter Mitty and his secret life. It kind of sounds like he’s a spy or something, which is really cool. This piece of article might be funny, but it probably will contain something that other people can relate to. Walter Mitty might not be liked that much, possibly hated by a lot of people, due to what Snoopy wrote on his story, for example: “He wanted to be love. He died unloved.” Walter Mitty can be a dreamy person because I don’t think that I would learn about daydreaming for 3-4 classes for nothing. Walter Mitty might work at a dull, lame office job where he needs to wear a suit everyday, and that’s why he daydream. Also, I think he, or his family, or his coworker are quite rude because in the vocabulary chart, you can find words like disdainful, insolent, derisive, and insinuatingly. Even if he’s hated or rude, he still remains a chill, carefree manner and appearance. He’s also exhausted from working day and night and having absolutely no rest at all. Even if he’s mean, he still have a good side of him. He loves enjoying flowers and plants and he also help bringing curs to pet centers. His story might be about him, on a mission to discover a criminal in disguise as a seller in a market. But then he met one of his friend, and that friend is a hydroplane pilot. They met each other in a pandemonium crowd. HIs friend might invited him to go on the plane and he said no cravenly, but his friend insisted him to go, which, caused him to be distraught. I predicted all of this based on the vocabulary. In conclusion, I think that Walter Mitty will be the protagonist of this story.

  1. Great post, Nghi. I really like how you made good predictions and support it with things that we already know and learned. Your predictions are very detailed and clearly explained, probably why it’s very long. (Not in a bad way of course) 😀

  2. I really enjoyed reading Nghi’s prediction. I think she had a pretty vivid, clear play running through her mind as soon as she saw the title. I like the way she used the vocabularies as a preference for comparing and predicting. I also like how she added her own opinions in.

  3. I really like your prediction on the “SLOWM” because you include a lot of evidence and it support the prediction. Nice Job! 🙂
